What customers say?

“ This is a great restaurant and the food really is 100% fresh and local. I came with my Japanese wife who translated the language on the menu. The friendly owner explained all of the ingredients to us. It was a pleasure to cook the food on the grill. We had a set meal and for the quality the price was very reasonable. The owners have put a lot of care and consideration into the decor as well. Please visit and support them and enjoy the food and experience. Don’t feed the cat!!!!! ”

“ I visited with a group of touring friends. It was fantastic. They mainly use local and home-grown ingredients from both the sea and the mountains, and I think the atmosphere is quite unique. The view from the window and the surrounding autumn leaves were at their peak, so we had a great time. ”

“ Getting to this restaurant is a scenic trek into the forested mountains of Chiba. Once you get inside the rustic Japanese house, which looks like a samurai's vacation home, it's fun to look at the large wooden pillars and tamami-matted floors while enjoying your meal. We had charcoal-grilled skewers of beef, mushrooms, peppers, pork, scallops, and lobster. They also have wild boar meat, venison, and other game dishes on the menu for visitors who want a taste of living in Chiba's countryside. I recommend it. Also, they have hand-made sake and soft drinks made from local ingredients. Taking a stroll around the charming house afterward felt like a little afternoon adventure. ”

“ Reservations are required for this undiscovered Chiba restaurant. Their signature "Hell Grill Course" is a plethora of seafood and mountain delicacies, including Boso shrimp, abalone, and turban shells, as well as chicken, pork, fish, wild vegetables, grated yam, and grilled rice balls. The sashimi, wild vegetable stew, and fresh salad that always come with the course are also excellent. The mysteriously generous miso soup with a whole Boso shrimp for just 800 yen is also impressive. Of particular note is the "Mineoka Tofu," which was purveyor to the eighth Tokugawa Shogun, Yoshimune Tokugawa. This exquisite dish is handmade in-house and made with pure spring water and Chiba peanuts...and it's delicious... With the atmosphere of a ninja mansion nestled quietly in the mountains and the pleasant aroma of vegetation, this undiscovered restaurant is within easy reach of Tokyo and a day trip away. Definitely worth a visit. ”

“ Visited this ‘hidden’ Japanese restaurant for a number of times. Never disappointed. Cozy room and very Japanese decorations. Autumn appetizers are fresh and tasty. Charcoal grill skewers especially pork one is always the winner. Won’t hesitate to come back for the next time. ”

“ The best atmosphere and the best food! It's a shame that the rating only goes up to 5 stars; I'd give it 7 stars! Here's my review! You should be able to find it easily using Google Maps, but the restaurant is about 400 meters down a narrow road from the prefectural highway. It's almost impossible to pass other vehicles on the narrow road, and there seem to be hidden gutters, so you might need to be a little careful. We visited during the day, but there are no streetlights, so you might need to be even more careful at night. [Atmosphere] The restaurant's name is apparently derived from Mikogami Noriyoshi, an instructor for the Tokugawa family. The restaurant's atmosphere is also reminiscent of that era, creating a truly atmospheric atmosphere. The ornaments and decorations placed here and there harmonize with the atmosphere and are really nice. The owner, Tama (the cat), wanders around depending on his mood, and is very friendly, welcoming you warmly. [Food] You can see the menu on their website, but the dishes that were particularly delicious were the wild boar meatballs, pork skewers, vegetable skewers, ganmo (grilled vegetables), vegetables (with dressing), and grated barley rice. (Almost everything.) I could eat as many bowls of grated barley rice as I wanted, almost with a drink. They served two types of vegetable dressing, and the special one was absolutely delicious. The food was brought to me based on how well I was eating, so I didn't feel rushed and was able to eat at my own pace. [Price] On the day, I had the Maruyama Course (4,800 yen). The portion and flavor were so good that I thought the price was too low. Given the location, I might only be able to go once or twice a year, but I definitely want to go at least once a year. ”

“ Beautiful restaurant , hidden in woods. Seasonal & regional specialties. Chef got award for innovation. Better to spend some time to admire the nature and food. ”

“ Very good food in an old house. We had a room for ourselves. We splurged but it was worth it (13,000 for 2). The owner and his wife are VERY friendly, and the owner spent time to explain the menu and offered hints on how to cook the food. Not really a place to repeat but we will maybe in 2 years. It's a little difficult to get there but worth the effort. ”
